The car door has automatic lock systems, also known as power door locks. It allows the driver or front passenger to lock/unlock the doors of an automobile by flipping a switch or pressing a button. These locks are hidden in the doors of the car. This system has an actuator, which is run by a battery as a source of power and has small motor. Working

In order to unlock the actuator moves the latch, this latch connects the door handle outside of the car’s door, and the opening mechanism initiates. To lock the door handle from outside is disconnected from the whole mechanism and hence cannot be opened. Inside the actuator, there is a gear reduction mechanism for slow speed and more torque. Spur gears of rack and pinion type are used to convert the rotatory motion of the motor into linear motion, i.e., up-down motion. For locking mechanism and the centrifugal clutch is also installed in the assembly of the actuator.
